FEASIBILITY STUDIES & PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Turn an opportunity
into a decision.

THOR Energy structures and coordinates feasibility work so clients can understand what is viable, what remains uncertain, what it may require, and what should happen next.

Professional fees apply. Scope, deliverables, and fees are agreed before the study begins.

THE PURPOSE OF FEASIBILITY

Reduce uncertainty
before committing capital.

A feasibility study is not simply a description of a project. It is a structured decision process that tests whether the concept can become technically workable, commercially supportable, financially credible, regulatorily achievable, and executable within acceptable risks.

THOR defines the study around the decision the client needs to make, rather than producing a generic report.

AN INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT

Six dimensions of a workable project.

The contracted scope selects the dimensions, depth, specialists, and evidence appropriate to the project stage.

01

Technical concept

Define the energy need, capacity, technology alternatives, performance requirements, site conditions, interfaces, and preliminary configuration.

02

Resource, site & infrastructure

Review resource availability, land, access, grid, water, fuel, logistics, supporting infrastructure, and additional studies required.

03

Regulatory & environmental path

Identify applicable authorities, permits, studies, stakeholder requirements, environmental considerations, and dependencies that influence the schedule.

04

Commercial & market case

Examine customers or offtakers, energy demand, commercial structure, procurement strategy, counterparties, and market assumptions.

05

Financial viability

Develop or review capital and operating estimates, revenues, financing assumptions, contingencies, cash flow, sensitivities, and funding needs.

06

Execution & risk

Define implementation phases, responsibilities, procurement and contracting approach, critical path, principal risks, mitigations, and decision gates.

THE WORKFLOW

Evidence, alternatives, recommendation.

01

Frame the decision

Agree on the question the study must answer, alternatives to compare, decision criteria, available information, deliverables, schedule, and professional fees.

02

Build the evidence base

Organize existing information, validate key inputs, identify gaps, coordinate specialists, and define the assumptions used for analysis.

03

Analyze alternatives

Compare technical, regulatory, commercial, financial, execution, and risk implications under consistent scenarios.

04

Recommend the path

Present findings, limitations, preferred option or conditions for advancement, action plan, budget priorities, and the next decision gate.

MATCH THE STUDY TO THE DECISION

From early screening to investment preparation.

01

Opportunity screening

A concise review of objectives, available information, obvious constraints, alternatives, and whether more study is justified.

02

Pre-feasibility

Preliminary comparison of configurations, sites, economics, risks, and development paths to narrow the opportunity.

03

Feasibility & development plan

A more developed technical, commercial, financial, regulatory, and execution basis suitable for a defined investment or advancement decision.

POTENTIAL DELIVERABLES

A record of what was tested—and what comes next.

Deliverables are selected in the proposal and may be prepared by THOR with qualified specialist contributors.

  • Executive summary and decision recommendation
  • Project basis, scope, assumptions, and data-quality register
  • Technology and alternative-comparison matrix
  • Preliminary site, resource, infrastructure, and regulatory assessment
  • Capital and operating estimate framework
  • Financial model or financial-analysis framework, as contracted
  • Risk register, sensitivities, dependencies, and mitigation actions
  • Implementation roadmap, responsibilities, and next-stage studies
FINANCING READINESS

A financing conversation needs a credible project basis.

Feasibility and financing preparation are connected. The study can help define the investment, equipment origin, sponsor obligations, risks, schedule, expected outcomes, and information needed to evaluate possible EXIM, USTDA, DFC, MDB, commercial, or other routes.

SCOPE, FEES & LIMITATIONS

Define the work before drawing the conclusion.

THOR provides a proposal defining the decision objective, scope, methodology, information requirements, specialists, deliverables, schedule, exclusions, dependencies, and professional fees. Third-party studies, site work, laboratory testing, engineering, legal, environmental, appraisal, accounting, and permitting services are identified and scoped as needed.

Findings depend on the agreed scope, data quality, assumptions, and project maturity. A feasibility study reduces uncertainty but does not eliminate risk, guarantee permits, fix final costs, secure financing, or guarantee project success.

Define the decision your project needs.

Begin with the opportunity, location, sponsor, available information, alternatives, estimated investment, and decision timeline.
